#KNOWSURVIVETHRIVE Submission – Dylan

My name is Dylan and I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 2 years old.  Being diagnosed so young, I don’t remember life without diabetes.  I’ve never let it keep me from doing things such as playing sports.  I’ve played baseball since I was 5 years old and was fortunate to make my high school baseball team.  Now, I enjoy snowboarding with my family and friends.  Although my blood sugar levels can be challenging at times when participating in sports, I know how to manage it so I don’t go too high or low.

I like to raise awareness on T1D because many people don’t understand it; they think eating too much sugar caused my diabetes.  That’s why I’m an advocate for awareness and education on T1D, to educate the public.

I had the opportunity to meet Bret Michaels in 2019 and participate in a Podcast with him which was pretty cool.  Bret’s a great advocate for T1D and I for one appreciate all he does to raise awareness.

Throughout the month of November, we will be featuring stories of people living with diabetes as part of our #KnowSurviveThrive campaign and partnership with EASET1D.org. To submit your #KnowSurviveThrive story, visit our Submit Your Story page.
