TeamBretMichaels.com Story: Type 1 Diabetic Daughter Is Her Mom’s Hero

TeamBretMichaels.com Story: Type 1 Diabetic Daughter Is Her Mom’s Hero

This is a story I know Bret can relate to! My daughter Genavie is 13 years old and is a type 1 diabetic for 5 years now and we all know the struggles of diabetes at such a young age even at older ages. But nothing stops Genavie she feels she was blessed by God with this disease to see how strong she can be in life. If you ask her if she wants a new pancreas she will flat out tell you NO. She never showed an ounce of fear since the day she was diagnosed. My daughter has become my hero she has showed me that she is stronger then me and most adults taking in diabetes like its a blessing. Genavie attends Camp Victory every year. I know Bret is aware of that camp :-). Last year she was made camper of the year because she is so caring she went around helping the other kids. One of the things Genavie does to deal with the stresses of her diabetes is sing, her dream is to one day become famous so she can be a hero for other diabetics her age and let them know just because they are diabetic that does not mean they can’t concur their dreams. Another thing she plans if ever famous is to donate and do a lot of charity for diabetes she has always had a big heart she chose to raise money in school one year and donated it to JDRF. She makes me proud everyday. Genavie has an amazing singing voice.

I couldn’t resist bringing Bret this sweatshirt! It was so much fun at the meet and greet in Altoona, PA after the Rockin’ For Little Hearts III concert! Bret is such a caring, giving person! He has a way of making all his fans feel so very special!

We wanted to say thank you for hanging out with us after the show in Syracuse, NY @ The Taste Of Syracuse. It was our pleasure to donate for Diabetes charities to help FIND A CURE! You are the greatest and such an inspiration to me. Because of you and your music my sugars are in better control now and I don’t nor will I ever feel like giving up as I did before because of my struggles through diabetes. KEEP ROCKING ON <3

A Fan’s Throwback Thursday Story, Meeting Bret, Chemo & Inspiration

A Fan’s Throwback Thursday Story, Meeting Bret, Chemo & Inspiration

I met Bret 2 years ago after a concert in Hampton Beach, NH. I had just been told I needed chemo and cried all day. My friends convinced me to still go to the concert and do a meet/greet. Even though Bret had no idea what was going on, he was so incredibly nice, nicer than I ever imagined he would be. Two years later my treatments, surgeries etc are all done I had a chance to meet him again, this time with my daughter. We had a nice chat, I told him how much it meant to me that he was so kind and my daughter was thrilled to meet him too. In this day and age when stars are hero worshiped, Bret proves that he is the real deal. Bret is so charitable, so kind and thankful to all of his fans. Not only that, but every member of his band is just as nice and I’m so glad he’s feeling better.
