TeamBretMichaels.com Pet Rescue Story: Couple Rescues Sheba Who Helps To Cope With Loss

My fiance was in the middle of our street talking with neighbors when a tiny kitten of about 8 weeks walked up to them and started crying. They all bent down and petted her, but when it came time for the group to break up, she followed him home. When he let her in to show her to me we noticed she was blind in one eye and had worms very badly. The next day we took her to the vet. They were able to give us medication for her worms but nothing they could do for her eye. As we already had two cats in our small house we decided to take her to the office we ran in the mall to try to find her a good home. Many children wanted her but the parents shied away due to her blind eye. By the end of the day my fiancee had fallen so much in love with her we decided to keep her. Shortly afterwards our cats of 16 & 17 yrs old passed away. Sheba as we named her is the biggest love bug I have ever met and constantly wants to be held. She gives hugs and kisses like a human and everything loves her..human and animals alike…dogs, other cats. She even brought us home another stray whose owners abandoned her when they moved. Earlier this year our two daughters passed away. Without Shebas love and constant kisses, I am not sure we would have made it through that time of our lives. God definitely sent her to us for a reason.

TeamBretMichaels.com Story: Sigourney Gives Meaning Of Pet Parent

TeamBretMichaels.com Story: Sigourney Gives Meaning Of Pet Parent

This year marks the 6th year we have had our furbaby Jasmine. I thank God for her everyday. In 2009, my husband and I were going through a rough time and weren’t really communicating much. It was our anniversary, and a friend who knew we wanted an animal found out through a mutual friend that someone had a dog they didn’t want anymore. Jasmine has helped us not only communicate better with each other, but she saved my life and my marriage. I was also very very depressed, and because of her I am here to tell this story today. After we moved into our house, we found out another fur baby who needed a good home. How could we say no?! So now, we have two fur babies, one of which saved us, the other who we saved from being euthanized. 🙂 I feel that without them in our lives, we wouldn’t be where we are today. My dogs are my children. I wont ever be able to handle having and giving birth to a child, so this is my little bit of happiness. As a “parent”, I feel it is important to be the voice of these animals. They are so fragile, and yet, bounce back like a bouncy ball. I know our second baby was abused before we got him, as he still kind of flinches when we go to pet him. All in all, I feel like my two dogs have really helped me, and I hope they feel I have helped them. 🙂

Our Rescue Story…The Pinky Lee Nine. By Janna and Christine

Our Rescue Story…The Pinky Lee Nine. By Janna and Christine

Jade, puppy number one of the Pinky Lee Nine, with the Bret Michaels Signature Ugly Sweater Chance Plush.

We’ve shared the posts and photos of Bret’s many rescue stories, but we have a few of our own.

Over the years we’ve rescued some cats and dogs, too. Stray dogs, and a few cats, are an issue in many parts of the country, but especially in the semi-rural area that we live in. We live on one of those roads that makes it easy to leave a dog and hope that someone takes it in.

It seems that we rescued a new animal every year that we’ve lived here, some we’ve taken in and added to our family, some we’ve taken to rescues. All kinds of dogs, from mixed breeds to bully breeds, we’ve made sure that no dog starves or gets left out in the cold. We’ve taken in abandoned kittens and even a cat with feline leukemia that got to enjoy his short time with a loving family.

This year we took in a beautiful girl named we named Pinky Lee. She had been hanging around for a while before we decided to give her a safe, warm place for the cold nights. Pinky didn’t come alone, a couple weeks later we had nine more little mouths to feed. Pinky had nine adorably cute puppies that are now almost seven weeks old.

Our rescue story happened because we care about the animals, not only in our own home, but in our neighborhood as well. It just so happened that this particular rescue story came with a big commitment to making sure that those nine little puppies and their mama not only survived, but found loving forever homes.

In just a few short weeks, our rescue story starts its next chapter as we carefully place each of the puppies and their mama with their new families. In the meantime, the Pinky Lee Nine are growing up in a loving environment and that is the best part of this rescue story.  You can follow their story on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/PinkyLeeNine) and Instagram (http://www.instagram.com/pinkylee9).

We want you to share your rescue stories, to share the joy of making a difference in an animal’s life during this season of giving. There is no greater reward that giving a loving home to a pet in need.
