I am a 43 year old brittle Type 1 Diabetic diagnosed July 1st,1999 at the age of 29. I have 4 children 3 beautiful daughters ages 21, 17 and 5. On August 4th, 2011 I was blessed with my son Andrew. My oldest daughter Toni lives in Orlando with my grandchildren Malik who is 26 days younger than my son and a gorgeous granddaughter Maliyah who is 4 & 1/2 months. Because of my condition as brittle as it is I haven’t seen my daughter since August 4th, 2009 or had the pleasure of meeting my grandchildren because I am afraid to travel too far from my doctor. I have been searching for the perfect Endocrinologist but still haven’t found my Dream Doctor yet. I have been hospitalized over 25 times and in ICU due to DKA more than 15. Since the first day I was diagnosed I haven’t been able to control this disease. I have been a fan of yours for 25 years with Poison and had the pleasure of seeing you and BMB last year at The Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis,MA with my 17 year old daughter Chelsie and 5 year old daughter Marissa who is obsessed with your song “All I ever needed.” Marissa and I had the honor of meeting Pete and Ray but couldn’t get to you after the show due to the usual Bret Michaels fan chaos! I am amazed by you and all that you are able to do regardless of how your feeling. You still manage to so much even after all you have been through! I know how difficult it is to be able to get out of bed and be able to function some days! My family keeps me going even though the depression is unbearable sometimes, trying to deal with this disease. I just find it hard to deal with my Diabetes almost everyday, but do it because my family means more to me than life itself. I know stress plays a major factor on blood sugar control I have had a lot of stress going on, I lost my older brother Joe who was my BEST FRIEND on September 21st, 2012 to a fatal motorcycle crash, he is now my GUARDIAN ANGEL. My 75 year old mother has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and can no longer take care of herself and is curently been admitted to a Rehabiltation/Skilled Nursing Facility. I feel so helpless and hopeless at times because I can’t do anything to take care of her. So I am making plans to see you perform live because I need to unleash and have some fun and forget about my stress even if it’s for a couple hours and seeing you will put me in a better frame of mind. I know you must hear this a thousand times a day, but If I had one wish in life besides being in control of my Diabetes or a cure, I would love to be able to meet you in person with my daughter Marissa and make her DREAM to sing “All I ever needed” with you come true. God Bless You Bret for all you do and for being my inspiration to want to get a hold on and control this Beast of a disease and to get my A1C below 13% and a goal of 6 to 7!!!!! Keep Rockin and doing what you do Best (EVERYTHING) YOU’RE AN AMAZING MAN!

Love, Susan
